Large coking chemical industry park started construction in Shanxi.

On November 17, Fenyang Coking Chemical Industry Park started construction in Lvliang, Shanxi Province, as the biggest one of its kind in China.

The new park has a designed capacity of 3 million t/a coke, 300 000 t/a methanol and 300 000 t/a coal tar with advanced technologies and equipment. Shanxi Coking Coal Group Shanxi Coal Mine Company and Shanxi Wulin Group Coking Chemical Company Limited co-established this park holding capital stock of 80% to 20% respectively. The first phase 1 million t/ a cocking chemicals project will adopt tamping coke oven and is planned to put on stream by the end of 2004. The second phase project will start construction in 2004. Besides, a 10 million t/a coal mine and a coal washing plant will be established to match this project.
