Lansco arranges publishing leases

In separate leasing transactions arranged by The Lansco Corporation, four publishing concerns have recently leased office space in midtown Manhattan.

All four leasing transactions were negotiated by William O. Berkis, Jr., leasing director of The Lansco Corporation, who spent 13 years in the publishing industry before entering real estate. In the past, Berkis has represented numerous advertising agencies, media buying companies and media recruiting firms, along with such magazine publishers as Texas Monthly, Mother Earth News, Hanson Publishing, Bauer Publishing and Periodical Studies Service.

In the first transaction, Weider Publications leased 5,200 square feet of space at 451 Park Avenue South for its New York advertising sales office. The million dollar, long-term lease represents an expansion move for the large California publisher, which was previously housed in 3,600 square feet of space at Six East 46th Street.

In another expansion move, The Chronicle of Higher Education relocated to 1,672 square feet of space at 1350 Avenue of the Americas, the office tower owned by the Minskoff Organization. The Chronicle was previously housed in 1,200 square feet of space at 200 West 57th Street.

As exclusive broker, Berkis also arranged a lease in which the Washington, DC-based Governing Magazine and Congressional Quarterly will open its first New York Sales office on a portion of the 13th floor of the Lincoln Building at 60 East 42nd Street. And finally, Berkis negotiated a three-year lease renewal at 432 Park Avenue South as exclusive broker for Lighthouse Communications, the publisher of Magazine Week and other publishing industry trade magazines.
