When the Scots, Irish, Welch, and English settlers populated the mountain valleys, hills, and mountains of Southern Appalachia, they brought their music with them as an integral part of their culture. In Land Of The Sky, Al Petteway and Amy White deftly collaborate to memorably perform within that Southern Appalachian music tradition and heritage for the benefit and delight of a new generation of listeners with recorded performances that include both original and traditional compositions of mountain melodies played on acoustic guitars, the mandolin mandolin (măn'dəlĭn`, măn`dəlĭn'), musical instrument of the lute family, with a half-pear-shaped body, a fretted neck, and a variable number of strings, plucked with the fingers or with a plectrum. , the Celtic harp, the banjo banjo, stringed musical instrument, with a body resembling a tambourine. The banjo consists of a hoop over which a skin membrane is stretched; it has a long, often fretted neck and four to nine strings, which are plucked with a pick or the fingers. , fiddles, the Irish Bouzouki, Fretless Bass, percussion, and vocals.
