Lancope's StealthWatch Provides Network Visibility for WildBlue Communications.

StealthWatch Enhances Network Performance and Security for Leading Service Provider

ATLANTA -- Lancope, Inc., the provider of StealthWatch[TM], the most widely used network behavior analysis (NBA) and response solution, today announced that WildBlue Communications has selected the StealthWatch System to enhance its network performance and security. A leading service provider, WildBlue provides high-speed Internet connectivity via satellite to homes and small businesses in communities where terrestrial broadband access is either limited or unavailable.

"Of all the solutions we evaluated, StealthWatch provided the most comprehensive view of our network traffic, along with the most flexible alerting and mitigation options," said Matt Cable, network security engineer for WildBlue. "With its efficient, accessible reporting on all our network traffic, StealthWatch helps us tune our entire network for better performance and enhanced security."

StealthWatch collects flow data to provide broader coverage and greater visibility of sensitive areas of the network. It also captures and summarizes transaction records for all network communications to enable powerful off-line analysis and expedite incident investigation and remediation efforts. Overall, the StealthWatch System reduces risk and helps ensure compliance with security and network usage policies. By using StealthWatch to monitor its network, WildBlue benefits from a complete historical context of network traffic, which can be used to isolate and resolve problems.

Cable added, "The raw flow visualization that StealthWatch provides is extremely useful for identifying patterns in our network traffic. The easy access to raw traffic flows that StealthWatch provides makes general network troubleshooting much easier than I expected."

Once fully deployed, StealthWatch will receive sFlow data from Foundry switches in WildBlue's network gateways. WildBlue network engineers will rely on StealthWatch data to conduct traffic engineering and network filter tuning. WildBlue also intends to use StealthWatch to assist in troubleshooting network traffic problems and mitigating network abuse.

"Our StealthWatch System provides WildBlue with strategic insight into network traffic management as well as network security," said Harland LaVigne, president and CEO of Lancope. "Increasingly, service providers like WildBlue are successfully deploying StealthWatch, validating that our agentless, signature-free and behavior-based approach allows customers to resolve network incidents quickly and efficiently."
