Eric Brown threw a five-inning no-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks and also was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs as Churchill clinched the Midwestern League prep baseball title with an 11-0 win over Springfield on Thursday.

The No. 1-ranked Lancers will get a bye in the first round of the state playoffs before hosting the winner of a first-round game between the No. 4 seed from the Mount Hood League and the No. 4 seed from the Pac-9 League on Monday, May 23.

Jerad Thompson was 3-for-3 with a triple and RBI to lead a 12-hit attack for Churchill (15-1 Midwestern). Garrett Crinklaw knocked in two runs.

North Eugene 8, Lebanon 1

Shawn Peterson struck out five in a three-hitter and also had two hits and an RBI to lead the second-place Highlanders (19-5, 13-2 Midwestern) at Swede Johnson Stadium.

Jon Keller was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Aaron Greer was 3-for-4 with a home run and RBI.

Brent Trask had a single and RBI for the Warriors.

South Eugene 3, Thurston 0

The Axemen moved into a tie for third place by beating the Colts.

Michael Ward struck out seven in a three-hitter, and Zach Taylor was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead South Eugene.

Willamette 17, Sheldon 2

Matt Bellando was 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, double and seven RBIs to lead the Wolverines over the host Irish.

Jerred Hughes had five singles and three RBIs, and Chad Metzel had two doubles and two RBIs in Willamette's 20-hit attack. Grant Dahlgren was 3-for-4 with a double.

Tyler Martell was 2-for-3 with a double for Sheldon.

Sky-Em League

Marist 7, Elmira 1

Brooks McKee had three singles and two RBIs and J.J. Mascolo had two doubles and an RBI as the No. 5-ranked Spartans improved to 8-2 in league.

Mike McCormick struck out 10, walked none and scattered six hits in seven innings to get the win. Catcher Jeff Ryding had two singles and two RBIs.

Paul Thomassen singled in a run for the Falcons (7-4 Sky-Em).

Pleasant Hill 4, La Pine 0

PLEASANT HILL - Andrew Downes struck out 10 in a two-hitter and also was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI as the No. 10-ranked Billies (8-3 Sky-Em) moved into second place. Dylan Price added a two-run double.

Siuslaw 18, Cottage Grove 17

FLORENCE - Callan Vaccaro hit a two-run homer to tie the game in the seventh inning and singled in the winning run in the ninth for the Vikings.

Vaccaro was 4-for-6 with eight RBIs. Jon Bennett was 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and double for Cottage Grove.

Far West League

Brookings 3, South Umpqua 0

BROOKINGS - Steve Dean and Tyler Parke combined to pitch a two-hitter with five strikeouts as the Bruins upset the No. 6-ranked Lancers.

Trico League

Monroe 12, Lowell 1

MONROE - Kevin Ballard was 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs, and Adam Opoien also drove in four runs as the Dragons (18-4, 14-2 Trico) remained in a tie for first place with Monroe and Central Linn.

Central Linn 13, Oakridge 9

OAKRIDGE - Travis Anderson was 4-for-5 with two two-run home runs, Andrew Kinder was 3-for-5 with a solo homer and Robert Cooper was 2-for-3 with a solo homer to lead the Cobras.

Oakridge had some power shots as Ty Olsen hit a three-run homer and Ryan Long had a solo homer.

Waldport 12, McKenzie 6

WALDPORT - Anthony Catalfamo was 3-for-4 with two triples, a double and an RBI, and Aaron Gilliland was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs as the No. 7-ranked Irish remained in a tie for first place.

Harrisburg 6, Crow 2

CROW - Tyler Bowers struck out 11 in a two-hitter, and Steve Adams and Cameron Souers had RBI singles to lead the Eagles.

Jefferson 7, Mapleton 3

MAPLETON - Chad Shephard struck out 11 in a five-hitter to lead the Lions. Cody Taylor had two RBIs for Jefferson, and George Iverson had a double and two RBIs for the Sailors.
