Lakehead gets funding boost.


Lakehead University Lakehead University, at Thunder Bay, Ont., Canada; founded 1946 as Lakehead Technical Institute. It achieved university status in 1965. Lakehead has faculties of arts and science, business, education, engineering, forestry, library and information studies, nursing,  Paleo-DNA Laboratory and Genesis Genomics have received a funding boost for facility expansion.

Both institutions are leading-edge research facilities and are forerunners in biotechnology research. Through an investment of $343,000 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is a division of the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines in the Canadian province of Ontario, whose purpose is to provide funding and program support to foster economic development in the economically disadvantaged Northern Ontario region.  Corp., the organizations will purchase equipment and undertake renovations for the establishment of DNA Sequencing DNA sequencing

The determination of the sequence of nucleotides in a sample of DNA.
 Chip technology facilities.
