Guilds flourished in Europe between the 11th and 16th century and were of two types: merchant guilds, including all the merchants of a particular town , No. 2 on this year's list with 70,000 members locally, and Professional Musicians Local 47, No. 19 this year, with close to 9,000 members. THE PACESETTER SEIU LOCAL 4348 SERVICE Employees International Union Local 434B has the most members among labor unions in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. County. Local 434B represents home care and nursing home workers and had 118,410 members in 2004, up 9,372 or 8.6 percent from the previous year.
