Lab test results available online to patients.

Patients may soon be able to view their own test results on the Internet. LabDat Inc., an Internet provider of lab results to physicians' offices, announced a new program that allows patient access to lab results handled by LabDat subscriber laboratories. The results are subject to review and authorization of the referring physician and are said to include reference ranges and test-specific lab comments. The company uses 128-bit encryption and secured socket layering in data and physician-patient communication, the same technology used to protect online credit-card transactions.
