NEW YORK, July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The institutional brokerage firm Lynch, Jones & Ryan, Inc., has formed a correspondent relationship with the woman-owned brokerage Whitehorne & Co. of Newport, R.I., it was announced here today. The two year-old Whitehorne firm is owned and managed by Leila C. Jenkins, a former investment banker and international economist, who has held banking and finance posts in New York, London, Sao Paulo and Hong Kong. Among the institutions for which she has worked are Bankers Trust, where she developed the strategy behind that institution's Equity Derivatives Group and headed its Emerging Markets Investment Group. Whitehorne is a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and is a full-service brokerage firm which serves institutional clients in the U.S. and overseas. Whitehorne is a "woman- owned business enterprise" and as such is approved to trade for a number of the largest pension funds. It also has a global research capability that offers investment advice on asset allocation and portfolio structuring in more than 30 markets worldwide. The firm has a staff of 10 professionals. She also held senior positions in Bankers Trust's Investment Management Group in New York and London. In the Strategic Planning unit, she worked with BT Securities, BT Brokerage and the Equity Derivatives Underwriting Group. Prior to joining Bankers Trust, Ms. Jenkins collaborated with four other professionals in 1982, to found Shields & Company, a New York Stock Exchange member brokerage.
