LYNCH RETURNS TO FIDELITY PART-TIME

BOSTON, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Peter Lynch has rejoined Fidelity Investments as an officer of its investment management unit on a part- time basis. Lynch will work one to two days a week with Fidelity's equity investment group, devoting particular emphasis to the company's stock analysts.
Fidelity chairman Ned Johnson said: "Since his retirement from full-time fund management, Peter has served as a mentor for our younger analysts. We have wanted to formalize that role because he has a unique gift to share. Peter can contribute a great deal to the development of our talented young people and help us create a new generation of portfolio managers for the future."
Lynch stated that he has no intention of returning to fund management or taking full-time administrative post with Fidelity. He said: "I will continue to spend most of my time on charitable and religious activities outside Fidelity. But now that I've finished my second book, I can give more time to the analysts without slighting those other commitments. I hope my work with the equity research group will ultimately benefit Fidelity's fund shareholders, because research has always been critical to our investment results."
Lynch, 48 formerly manager of Fidelity Magellan Fund, retired from full-time money management in 1990. He serves as a trustee of the Fidelity Group of Funds and as a director of Morrison Knudsen Corp. and W.R. Grace & Co. In addition, Lynch is active in 16 charities and non- profit institutions.
