Second baseman Anthony Lunetta went 3 for 4 with a home run and a stolen base, drove in two runs and scored four times Tuesday to lead USC past UC Santa Barbara 12-5 in Goleta.

The visiting Trojans (13-8), ranked 10th nationally by Baseball America, never trailed and were never threatened in the nonconference game.

They struck for two runs in the top of the first inning, built a 6-0 advantage midway through the third and led 11-0 before the Gauchos (10-6) scored four times in the sixth.

Brian Barre, Bill Peavey, Michael Moon, Jon Brewster and Alberto Concepcion added two hits each for the Trojans, who outhit UCSB 16-9 and played errorless defense.

Chad Clark, the first of four USC pitchers, took the win, scattering nine hits over 5 2/3 innings and improving to 2-2. Sam Ramirez, Mark Todd and Jon Williams followed with a combined 3 1/3 innings of hitless relief.

Clark struck out three and walked three, yielding four earned runs in the Gauchos' sixth.

Chad Pashka and Ryan Spilborghs had two hits each and Donovan Warrecker doubled and drove in two runs to lead UCSB, which used five pitchers in the three-hour nonconference game.

Starter Jamie Gonzales took the loss for the Gauchos, yielding seven hits and six runs, all earned, in his three innings. He had no strikeouts and walked two.

Matt Moran, Justin Angevine, Keith Kalley and Russell Wirth finished for UCSB.
