The event is sponsored by the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Simi Valley Police Foundation and the city of Simi Valley to honor officers in the Simi Valley Police Department The Simi Valley Police Department (SVPD) is the police department of the city of Simi Valley, California. The department currently has over 120 sworn officers, and more than 65 support personnel[1]. The department has a patrol area that covers over 39 square miles. . Morton, known for accomplishments with his police dog Rex, was selected as Officer of the Year for 2006 by his peers in the department last spring. Other officers who will be honored at the luncheon include Terry Jenkins, Reserve Officer of the Year, and dispatcher Software that determines what pending tasks should be done next and assigns the available resources to accomplish it.
