 LUCAS TO PROVIDE MAINTENANCE SUPPORT FOR FEDERAL EXPRESS
 RESTON, Va., July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal Express Corp., Memphis, Tenn., has awarded a contract to Lucas Aviation Inc., Santa Barbara, Calif., to provide heavy maintenance services on its 747 aircraft. This maintenance was previously performed by Federal Express at its Los Angeles International base, which is now concentrating on servicing DC-10s and MD-11s. Value of the contract is undisclosed.
 First activity under the contract, which is expected to run July through October 1992, will include two "C" checks, two phase checks, one section 41 inspection and one full-landing gear change.
 Lucas Aviation has conducted heavy maintenance and/or major modifications on a total of 18 747s for Qantas, Evergreen, GATX, General Electric and United Airlines. The company is part of the Lucas Aerospace Customer Support Division, which in addition to its modification and repair and overhaul capabilities, also provides spare parts supply, integrated logistics, training, technical liaison and technical publications.
