LUCAS SELECTED BY TI FOR JSOW ACTUATION SYSTEM
FARNBOROUGH, England, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucas Aerospace has

received the contract from Texas Instruments for the Joint Stand Off Weapon (JSOW) fin control actuation system. JSOW was formerly the Advanced Interdiction Weapon System (AIWS). Value of the contract is undisclosed.
JSOW, a stand-off missile program, is intended to provide next generation fire-and-forget capability for the U.S. Navy and Air Force arsenals, potentially replacing a number of existing air-to-ground weapons. JSOW is a low-cost weapon incorporating a modular framework with built-in growth capability and is compatible with most United States and NATO attack aircraft.
Lucas' innovation with integrating electromechanical digital fin control systems, coupled with its new factory and manufacturing techniques, led to the selection of Lucas for the TI JSOW. Lucas Aerospace currently supplies advanced fin actuation systems and equipment for programs such as Tomahawk, ERINT, Harpoon/SLAM, HARM and AMRAAM.
Work will be performed at Lucas' Aurora, Ohio, Power Equipment facility where TI/Lucas Concurrent Engineering will focus to maximize producibility and reliability while minimizing total cost of ownership. The facility is part of the international group of businesses that comprise the Aircraft Systems Division, which, in addition to its missile actuation capabilities, designs, develops and manufactures equipment and systems for ice protection, missile casings, electric generators, cockpit and cabin windows and cargo handling systems.
Lucas Aerospace is a leading supplier of aerospace systems and equipment with sales of $1.3 billion and operating facilities across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, as well as associated companies, joint ventures, marketing and customer support facilities around the world. The company is a subsidiary of Lucas Industries plc -- an international organization serving the aerospace, automotive and other selected markets, with sales of $4 billion.
