LUCAS AEROSPACE SELECTED BY TEXAS INSTRUMENTS AS A PREFERRED SUPPLIER
 ON HARM PROGRAM
SINGAPORE, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucas Aerospace has been awarded a follow-on contract to supply electromechanical wing actuators for the HARM (High Speed Anti-Radiation Missile) for Texas Instruments Defense Systems & Electronics Group, Lewisville, Texas. Manufacture of these actuators will take place at the Lucas Electric Actuators business unit in Bradford, England, part of the Aircraft Systems Division. The contract is valued at 3.85 million pounds Sterling ($6.5 million).
Lucas has also been selected by Texas Instruments as the preferred supplier for the missile fin actuators on any future orders for HARMs. The decision to select Lucas was based on their outstanding record of quality, delivery, performance and price.
Lucas has now delivered more than 15,000 electromechanical wing actuators for Texas Instruments' HARM. After receiving the 15,000th actuator, Texas Instruments' representatives paid tribute to Lucas Aerospace's maintenance of product quality and adherence to schedule.
HARM, a multinational program, is the primary defense suppression weapon for the U.S. Air Force and Navy. Its deployment in Operation Desert Storm was a major contributor to the low losses experienced by the allied air forces.
Lucas Aerospace also supplies similar advanced actuation equipment to the ALARM, AMRAAM, Harpoon and Tomahawk missile programs.
Lucas Aerospace Electric Actuators business unit is part of the international group of the Aircraft Systems Division, which, in addition to its missile actuation capabilities, designs, develops and manufacturers equipment and systems for electric power generation, ice protection, missile casings, cockpit and cabin windows and cargo handling systems.
Lucas Aerospace is a leading supplier of aerospace systems and equipment with annual sales of 750 million pounds Sterling ($1.3 billion) and operating facilities across Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America as well as associated companies, joint ventures, marketing and customer support facilities around the world. The company is part of Lucas Industries plc. -- an international organization serving the aerospace, automotive and other selected markets, with sales of 2.4 billion pounds Sterling ($4 billion).
