 LTV-CLEVELAND WORKS NAMED FORD Q-1 PREFERRED SUPPLIER
 CLEVELAND, April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- LTV Steel announced today that


its Cleveland Works has been presented the Ford Motor Company Q1 Preferred Quality Award in recognition of supplier excellence and commitment to continuous improvement in quality and productivity.
 Cleveland Works supplies sheet steel to Ford stamping plants. In addition, the LTV joint venture company, L-SE, located in the Cleveland Works complex, provides electrogalvanized steel sheet used in Ford vehicles.
 Achievement of Q1 Preferred Quality Supplier status is considered to be a requirement to continue as a source to Ford on a long-term basis.
 At the ceremony today at the Cleveland Works, Paul T. Sullivan, executive director-purchasing and transportation of Ford, presented the Q1 plaque to J. Peter Kelly, president of LTV Steel, and J.F. Bush, vice president and general manager of Cleveland Works. LTV was also given the Q1 "Flag of Distinction" which will fly over Cleveland Works.
 In recognizing the quality performance of Cleveland Works and L-SE, Sullivan commended in particular LTV's quality systems, and expressed appreciation for the hard work and dedication that went into the achievement of Q1.
 Bush congratulated the Cleveland Works/L-SE employees on an outstanding team effort: "This is proof that our people are committed to satisfying challenging, customer requirements and making a quality contribution to our customers' products. Everyone involved showed the diligence and skill necessary to be a world competitive steelmaker."
