LTV STEEL TO REPAIR INDIANA BLAST FURNACE

CLEVELAND, May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- LTV Steel today said that it will make an unscheduled repair to the refractory lining of its Indiana Harbor Works H-4 blast furnace. The furnace, which is nearing the end of its current campaign, is expected to return to service in 21 days.

As a result of this unscheduled outage, LTV Steel will re-schedule later in the year the planned second quarter blast furnace reline at its Cleveland Works.

LTV Steel will continue to produce iron at its H-3 blast furnace at Indiana Harbor and three blast furnaces at the Cleveland Works. LTV will offset the H-4 outage with slabs produced at its Cleveland Works and from inventory. The outage will not affect LTV Steel's ability to fulfill its customer deliveries.
