LSR molded next to elastomers.

The company's two-page bulletin describes how its One Part liquid silicone rubber (LSR 1. (networking) LSR - Label Switching Router.
2. (operating system) LSR - Local Shared Resources.
) can be molded next to organic elastomers. Unlike the typical two-part LSR, the cure is said to be much less affected by many of the chemicals that inhibit two-part systems.

One Part LSR has been found to be resistant to inhibition from sulfur or peroxide cured organic elastomers such as EPDM EPDM Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomer
EPDM Enterprise Product Data Management
EPDM Ethylene Propylene Dimonomer (industrial/commercial piping/plumbing components)

, nitrile, HNBR HNBR Hydrogenated Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Rubber , SBR SBR - Spectral Band Replication  and NBR NBR Number

. As samples show, One Part can be readily overmolded or co-molded with these elastomers, according to the literature.

Up to now, many molders of organic elastomers are said to have taken extra precautions to make sure there is physical and often chemical separation between molding and curing of two-part, addition cure silicone and organic elastomers. This is said to be especially true of those that utilize sulfur as a vulcanizing agent. In many cases, these two materials are not processed within the same building for fear of contamination.

One Part is said to greatly reduce those concerns. Many types of organic elastomers can be molded in the same facility or together.
