), a provider of silicon, systems and software technologies, announced on Monday (31 March) the Tarari T1000 series of silicon-based content inspection processors for networking OEMs.

According to the company, the T1000 series is the first regular expression (regex) processor to function independently without external memory for implementations operating at data rates of 250Mb/s and 500Mb/s. When configured for RAM-less mode operation the processors share host CPU CPU

system memory, resulting in lower cost and reduced power consumption, while the addition of a single memory chip enables high-performance applications operating at 1Gb/s and 2Gb/s rates.

In addition, the processors enable networking manufacturers to use the same development effort across their range of performance levels from entry-level to high-end systems. The same regular expression rules can reportedly be used in applications ranging from 100Mb/s to 10Gb/s rates, saving engineering expense and improving time to market. The solutions also free the system CPU to process additional value-added applications and enable designers to reduce the CPU clock frequency or use fewer CPU cores to reduce overall system cost and power consumption.

LSI will be demonstrating content inspection technology at the InfoSecurity exhibition in London, UK, on 22-24 April, 2008. No financial details were disclosed.
