This offering embeds LSI Logic's 24+2 Intelligent Switch, known as the L64324, with Wind River's Tornado(R) for Managed Switches (TMS) software and provides a low-cost per port single chip solution for the voice and data communications market.

The TMS based L64324 management software provides a full set of features, which include the simple network management protocol (SNMP), web and console management, remote monitoring (RMON), support for the spanning tree protocol, 802.1Q VLAN, and 802.1p priority queuing support. In addition, the L64324 management software includes features such as IP multicast, port trunking, port mirroring diagnostics, per port security and hot swapability on up links.

The L64324 is a single chip that features a fully integrated 24-port Fast Ethernet (10/100) switch with two-Gigabit uplinks and an embedded ARM(R) processor. LSI Logic's L64324 Intelligent Ethernet Switch may be used in a variety of Ethernet applications, such as managed Ethernet switches with 10/100 ports and Gigabit uplinks. Featuring the highest level of integration available in the market today, the L64324 lowers the system cost considerably, without sacrificing functionality or flexibility. All the active components excluding the memory and physical layer devices are integrated to form an elegant system on-a-chip solution. This level of integration reduces the device count significantly compared to other similar standard products on the market today.
