Feig, a senior, opened the scoring in the first quarter with the first of four Louisville goals. She added another in the second when the Royals built a 5-0 lead. Coral Cozad picked up the Spartans' first goal with a little more than a minute left in the first half.

``It went well,'' Smith said. ``We knew they had a good goalkeeper and hole set so we were defending those.

``We're an above average, fast team. That enables us to do a lot of counter attacking.''

Feig also provided solid defense.

``She made up for places where we were weak,'' Smith said. ``She was playing from 2-meter (line) to 2-meter. She had a lot of steals.''

Goalkeeper Erin Felly was also key in shutting down La Canada (8-3) as she provided eight saves.

Cozard and Catherine Ellis scored twice each to account for the Spartans' scoring.
