INTO HIGH PERFORMANCE INSULATION; OPENING CEREMONY APRIL 29
The following is a special for Maryland and D.C. Area Editors:
Louisiana-Pacific Corp. (L-P) -- a major building materials manufacturer headquartered in Portland, Ore. -- announced today it will open a plant in Savage, Md., on Wednesday, April 29, that will make high performance insulation from recycled newspaper. The new plant is Louisiana-Pacific's first in Maryland.
Plant tours and interviews will be available throughout the day, with the opening ceremony scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Harry A. Merlo, L-P's chairman and president, will be on hand for the ceremony as will Chuck Yeager, an L-P board member. Gen. Yeager is the first man to fly faster than the speed of sound. Local and state officials will also be participating in the opening.
"Wastepaper represents the largest untapped forest in the world. And the more we use of this abundant raw material, the better it is for the world's environment," said Merlo.
For more information or to arrange a tour, contact Plant Manager Bill Swinson at 301-776-7711. The plant is located at 8679 Greenwood Place in the Corridor Industrial Park south of the intersection of Route 1 and Highway 32.
