LOTS TO DO FOR MOM ON HER SPECIAL DAY MUSICAL, JAZZ CONCERT AMONG THIS WEEKEND'S ENTERTAINMENT OPTIONS.

LANCASTER - There's lots of local entertainment to take Mom to this weekend, including a musical, an evening of jazz and a Mother's Day concert of show tunes.

The 1950s Broadway hit ``Guys and Dolls,'' about gambling, deceit and love, will be presented tonight and Saturday at 8 p.m., and 2 p.m. Sunday at Lancaster Performing Arts Center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre. , 750 W. Lancaster Blvd.

``It's a light musical,'' director Barbara Coates said of the Cedar Street Theatre production. ``It'll make you smile when you come out.''

Starring are Marco Aguilar, Colleen Schaffner, Kasey Staples and Scott Hickerson.

Songs that came from the show include ``A Bushel bushel: see English units of measurement.  and a Peck,'' ``Luck Be A Lady,'' ``I'll Know,'' ``If I Were a Bell'' and ``Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat.''

``They're all very catchy tunes; maybe that's why it's lasted so long,'' commented Coates.

Meanwhile, the Palmdale Playhouse will host local jazz guitarist Jazz guitarists are guitar players who play jazz music using an approach to playing chords, melodies, and improvised solo lines which is called jazz guitar playing. The guitar has a long history in jazz music, both as an ensemble instrument performing chordal accompaniment, and as  Ric Ilejay on Saturday and pianist Deborah Johnson on Sunday.
