 Dryden Flight Research Center The Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC), located inside Edwards Air Force Base, is an aeronautical research center operated by NASA. On March 26, 1976 it was named in honor of the late Hugh L. , Boeing and the Antelope Valley Astronomy Club joined to put on the event.

Lockheed Martin Corp. started National Space Day in 1997. It was a grass-roots effort that has grown into a global celebration. The day recognizes world achievement in space exploration and encourages young people to study mathematics and science.
