LOS ANGELES REGION ANSWERS CALL TO HELP STORM'S VICTIMS.

At Union Station in Los Angeles, a nonprofit called Phone for Life Inc., planned a Labor Day weekend collection of used cell phones to distribute to elderly and sickly residents in remote areas of Louisiana CODE, OF LOUISIANA. For Southern California residents, the opportunity to donate to a relief fund may help them cope with the feeling of helplessness that comes with the images of the devastation.

``It's so sad,'' said Eloise Rosales, 34, who arrived with her husband and three children on Wednesday to donate at the Red Cross center at Dodgers Stadium. ``It's almost unbelievable, but you look at it on TV and you say, 'My God, this is really happening - it happened.'''

Here are agencies accepting donations to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina:

--American Red Cross will be accepting donations today, 5 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at Dodger Stadium and 6 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at the Rose Bowl. Best Buy, Rite Aid and Washington Mutual will accept donations for Red Cross. Donations also can be mailed to the agency's Disaster Relief Fund, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013; call (800) HELPNOW or (800) 257-7575 (Spanish); or see www.redcross.org.
