LOS ANGELES' NO. 1 SPANISH LANGUAGE STATION STRENGTHENS NO. 1 NEWS TEAM

 LOS ANGELES, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- KMEX-TV General Manager Michael G. Martinez announced today a major reorganization of the station's news department. Led by KMEX veteran journalist and anchor Eduardo Quezada, the new talent lineup includes Andrea Kutyas as co- anchor of the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts; Jesus Javier as anchor of the 11 p.m. "Edicion Nocturna;" and popular radio and television personality Pepe Barreto as the station's community reporter.
 "`Noticias 34' is the best Spanish-language newscast in Southern California. We are extremely excited about the addition of Javier, Kutyas and Barreto to our news department," said Martinez. "I am confident that the expertise and experience of this group of journalists together with our excellent news team will help us to better serve our community."
 On Friday, April 2, the appointment of Miguel Banojian as "Noticias 34" news director was announced. Banojian was formerly news director at Univision's New York affiliate WXTV, Channel 41. Previous to this position, he was the producer of the 6 p.m. newscast at KVEA, Channel 52 in Los Angeles.
 Award-winning journalist Javier is not a new face in Los Angeles. Before joining KMEX, this experienced journalist was the anchor of the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. news at KVEA, Channel 52. Previously, he was anchor and general assignment reporter at KPIX-TV, the CBS affiliate in San Francisco. Also, Javier is not new to Univision. He was the news anchor for KDTV, Channel 14, the Univision affiliate in San Francisco; additionally, he headed the news department at Univision's San Antonio affiliate, KWEX-TV.
 Kutyas is also a familiar face to KMEX-TV's viewers. She worked as correspondent for Univision's news magazine show "Portada" and was Univision's weekend network news anchor. She had also worked as Univision's Los Angeles bureau correspondent. Most recently, Kutyas hosted the afternoon news and entertainment variety show "Contacto" for Telemundo.
 Barreto is the most popular and dynamic radio personality and television community reporter in Los Angeles. His extensive work and contact with the Latino community will certainly enhance the station's coverage of community issues.

 Cristina Aceves, one of KMEX-TV's most popular journalists, will continue hosting the morning talk program that she created, "Los Angeles al Dia," and the station's public affairs show, "Tribuna Publica."
