LORRY OVERTURNS ON ROAD.

A LORRY overturned and shed its load of rubble across a road in Liverpool.

Firefighters were called to the junction of Smith Street and Whittle Street in Kirkdale at about 9.45am yesterday.

The driver of the Gaskells lorry, who was trapped in the vehicle, was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening.

The ECHO contacted the Bootlebased waste management company and a member of staff said the driver was "fine".

Motorists were advised to avoid the area while the emergency services worked to remove the vehicle and clear debris from the road.
