), has been awarded contracts valued at approximately $1 million to supply equipment for a weapons guidance and targeting demonstration for the Joint Advanced Strike Technology (JAST) program.

Under one contract, Loral Defense Systems-Arizona will provide mission planning capabilities and electronic equipment to be used with a LADAR LADAR Laser Radar
LADAR Laser Detection & Ranging
 radar system. Under a second contract, LDS-Arizona will conduct flight tests of Loral's new small modular radar systems, together with another sensor from Northrop Grumman. Both programs are scheduled to run until the end of 1997.

The contracts are part of the Joint Advanced Weapons Guidance/Weapons Integration Precision Targeting Demonstration for the Joint Advanced Strike Technology program. This technology program will provide one assembly line to produce a common aircraft that will meet U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps requirements.

Loral Defense Systems-Arizona's participation in the JAST program gives it a significant opportunity to continue developing weapons guidance radar technology for the next generation fighter aircraft.
