In contrast to the group effort exhibited by the Crescenta Valley boys' team, Alemany of Mission Hills junior Maureen Farrell - who will compete in two events at the Olympic Trials in August - accomplished much on her own. Farrell tied the section record in winning the 100-yard backstroke in 55.56. The record was set in 1992 by Beverly Hills' Meredith Booker. Farrell (23.61) also won the 50 freestyle for the second time in her career.
