LOOKING TO THE STARS FOR TABLETOP INSPIRATION THE THANKSGIVING ZODIAC.

Byline: Barbara De Witt De Witt, uninc. town (1990 pop. 8,244), Onondaga co., central N.Y., a residential suburb of Syracuse.  Staff Writer

Nothing says Thanksgiving like a cornucopia cornucopia (kôr'nykō`pēə), in Greek mythology, magnificent horn that filled itself with whatever meat or drink its owner requested.  filled with squash and Indian corn.

But it's been done.

Lifestyle guru Colin Cowie Colin Andrew Wilkie Cowie (born January 3, 1962) is a famous lifestyle guru and party planner to the stars.

Born in Kitwe, Zambia, and educated in South Africa, he moved to the United States in 1985.
claims there's nothing more comforting than tradition, but in his upcoming TV special on WE: Women's Entertainment, ``Everyday Elegance Thanksgiving Special With Colin Cowie,'' he bends the rules and thinks outside the box - or the cornucopia.

The party planner to stars such as Jerry Seinfeld This article is about the comedian. For the character, see Jerry Seinfeld (character).

Jerry Seinfeld (born Jerome Seinfeld on April 29, 1954 in New York City, New York) is a Golden Globe- and Emmy Award-winning American comedian, actor and writer.
, Kelsey Grammer Allen Kelsey Grammer (born February 21, 1955) is a six-time Emmy and a two-time Golden Globe-winning American actor best known for his two-decade portrayal of psychiatrist Dr. , Lisa Kudrow Lisa Marie Diane Kudrow (born July 30, 1963) is an Emmy Award- and SAG-winning American actress best known for her role as Phoebe Buffay in the hugely popular sitcom Friends.  and Hugh Hefner Hugh Marston Hefner (born April 9, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois), also referred to colloquially as Hef,[1] is the founder, editor-in-chief, and Chief Creative Officer of Playboy Enterprises[2]. He is the majority owner of Playboy Enterprise Inc.  has organized the ultimate Thanksgiving feast for TV viewers, with creative ideas for the menu and table decor, but he realizes everybody comes to the table with their own personal taste. While one person may prefer a collection of tiny pumpkins, another wants stately candelabras.

Just for fun, the Daily News asked Cowie to look to the stars for tabletop inspiration. Not Hollywood stars, but the astrological signs in the sky.

Since Cowie is a Capricorn, he started with his own sign first:

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan.19)

``The practical, classical host will always want the table to look its best, so he or she will have set the table two days in advance. I'd have the smallest but tastiest turkey ... and for a centerpiece I'd set the table with an alternating layer of exquisite flowers and candles down the center.''

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

``This sign might celebrate Thanksgiving with an eclectic, family-style Thanksgiving. When it comes to the china, nothing matches, but it all comes together.''

PISCES Pisces (pī`sēz) [Lat.,=the fishes], constellation lying directly S of Andromeda and on the ecliptic (the sun's apparent path through the heavens) between Aries and Aquarius; it is one of the constellations of the zodiac.  (Feb. 19-March 20)

``The no-fuss Piscean might do Thanksgiving at the beach, using a wicker blind as a table cloth, aquamarine-colored napkins and then select a clear glass bowl with a candle in the center surrounded by seashells for the centerpiece.''

ARIES Aries (âr`ēz) [Lat.,=the ram], constellation lying on the ecliptic (the sun's apparent path through the heavens) between Taurus and Pisces; it is one of the constellations of the zodiac. It contains the bright star Hamal (Alpha Arietis).  (March 21-April 19)

``The best china and crystal for the Aries hostess - who will want to tell you the brand names if the labels aren't still there. She'll have the table loaded with silver, from the candelabrum candelabrum (kăn'dəlä`brəm), primarily a support for candles, designed in the form of a turned baluster or a tapered column, also a branched candlestick or a lampstand.  to the gravy boat, and it will be family heirlooms she's inherited - or will at least look like it.''

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

``Thanksgiving might be held in the Taurus' cozy kitchen, using everyday dishes and vintage napkins and mismatched flea market china. Food might even be served from the stove top. For centerpieces, expect mini pumpkins and silver candelabras in need of polishing.''

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

``The Gemini sets a simple, modern table, using a twig TWIG - Tree-Walking Instruction Generator.

A code generator language. ML-Twig is an SML/NJ variant.

table runner and square chargers and quality plates with natural toned napkins. Centerpiece? Big, thick, chocolate-brown candles decorated with persimmon-colored ribbon.''

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

``A Cancer would serve Thanksgiving dinner in front of the fireplace with a long table and a bench on one side, with chairs on the other, and maybe a patchwork quilt for a tablecloth. It would be set with freshly polished silver and traditional china that comes out once a year.''

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

``She pulls out all the stops with a mustard damask cloth and gold accents, jeweled chandelier and a huge classical urn in the center filled with autumn fruits such as Basque pears, pomegranates and tangerines - real ones but with a dusting of gold leaf.''

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

``Sets a beautifully, slightly Scandinavian table with a crisp white linen tablecloth, minimalist flatware and Scandinavian china but the food would be ordered in. The centerpiece might be a hollowed-out pumpkin filled with flowers and delivered by the florist.''

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

``Party-loving Libra turns Thanksgiving into the ultimate soiree soi·ree also soi·rée

[French soirée, from Old French seree, from seir, evening, from Latin
, beginning with cocktails in the living room. The dinner table is done to the hilt with her own crystal, china and silver in a tasteful but eclectic mix. She'll arrange her own flowers in a silver coffee pot with smaller arrangements in the creamer and sugar ... very feminine. Candles and napkins will match perfectly, maybe the color of cognac.''

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

``An open house, buffet-style dinner that's comfortable. For drama, she'll put a drapery panel across the table, place a few piles of vintage books on it for height and then put a grouping of pillar candles in a lovely rich ivory beeswax beeswax: see wax.

on top. I could see mismatched candelabras ... and a bowl of cranberries reflected in a mirror placed next to the table.''

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

``A potluck Thanksgiving held outdoors on the patio. For a centerpiece, Sagittarius might have a branch on a bed of moss that has candles and red apples buried in it. And she might use dried leaves as place cards ... and serve spicy pumpkin soup in a huge pumpkin on a nest of dried twigs and leaves.''
