He served for three years as crew chief on the P-47 Thunder Bolt fighter planes. After his discharge in 1946, he and his two brothers started Bohannan Paving Co. in North Hollywood. Olaf went into semi-retirement in the early 1960s. He is active in the Church of Christ in Winnetka. They have two children: Wynona Maury of Simi Valley and Loel Bohannan of North Hollywood. They also have three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
