She also organized the first polio vaccination clinic in Burbank and the Burbank Center for the Retarded. She was also president of the Women's Club of Burbank.

Both Dale and Virginia love to travel. Dale loves to hunt and fish, while Virginia enjoys oil painting and gardening.

They have two children: Bruce Dodge of La Canada and Deborah Van Dellen of Agoura Hills. They also have five grandchildren.

MARRIED 55 YEARS: BOB AND PHYLLIS TURNER

Bob and Phyllis Turner of Sherman Oaks celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with more than 100 friends and family members on April 6 at Hollywood-West Valley Masonic Lodge in Tarzana. They were married on April 2, 1941, at Wilshire Wedding Chapel in Los Angeles.

They met at a roller-skating rink that was set up on a Columbia Pictures sound stage. Bob accidentally knocked Phyllis over. Bob apologized and they started dating.

Bob was born in 1920 in Fresno. He graduated from Fresno Technical High School in 1938. He moved to Los Angeles and attended UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles

Phyllis was born in 1920 in Iowa City, Iowa Iowa City is a city in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. Her family moved to Detroit and she graduated from Southeastern High School in Detroit in 1938. She moved to Hollywood in 1939 and attended Los Angeles City College Los Angeles City College, known as LACC, is a public community college in the Hollywood section of Los Angeles, California. A part of the Los Angeles Community College District, it is located on Vermont Avenue south of Santa Monica Boulevard. . She worked at Bullocks Wilshire at the time of her marriage.

She became a devoted mother. She also helped their daughter Pamela open a swimwear store called Sandpebbles. Pamela designed and Phyllis helped manufacture the products. The store closed in 1988.

They have lived in the same Sherman Oaks home since 1949. They love to dance and travel and have taken many road trips throughout the United States.

They have three children: Jaqulyn Gruchala and Donna Pierstorff, both of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Pamela Kartiganer, who is deceased. They also have 10 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
