LONGEVITY MARRIED 60 YEARS: SONIA AND JOSEF CZARYSKI.Byline: -- Simone Schramm Trimm Sonia and Josef JOSEF - Joint OT&E Simulation Environment Facility (JITC) Czaryski of Los Angeles celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family on Aug. 11 at their son's home. They were married on Aug. 11, 1946. They met in Poland after the Holocaust, when Sonia was 18. Josef was a policeman. Sonia was born in Benin, Poland. As a teenager, she lived through the Holocaust, hiding in basements and then in imprisoned in concentration camps, where she witnessed many atrocities. After marriage, the couple moved to Israel. In 1974, they moved to the U.S. with their two sons. Sonia and Josef are active members of the American Jewish Congress and a support organization for Holocaust survivors. They also love to play cards, spend time with friends and have traveled to many places. Favorite jaunts include Las Vegas and cruises. They have two children: Shraga Zur Zur (zûr), in the Bible. 1 Prince of Midian killed by the Jews. 2 Son of Jehiel. of Givaataim, Israel, and Elie Charisky of Woodland Hills. They also have five grandchildren. MARRIED 55 YEARS: EARL BRYAN AND MARY FRAN THOMPSON Earl Bryan and Mary Fran Thompson of Woodland Hills celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary at Earl's high school reunion in Jefferson City, Mo., with an extended vacation. They were married on Aug. 25, 1951, at a Presbyterian church in Warrensburg Warrensburg, city (1990 pop. 15,244), seat of Johnson co., W Mo.; inc. as a city 1855. The city is situated in a dairy and farm region that principally raises wheat, corn, and cattle. Local manufactures include clothing, chemicals, and electronic components. Central Missouri State Univ. is in Warrensburg. Nearby is Whiteman Air Force Base., Mo. They met at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. Earl was a football player in college and a member of the M Club, an intercollegiate athletic club. He graduated with a double major in business and physical education. Mary was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree in education, aspiring to be a kindergarten teacher. After marriage, they moved to Kansas City, Mo., where Earl worked for Procter & Gamble in the sales department. Mary taught kindergarten for seven years. A highlight for her was when she was chosen to be a master teacher for a Pakistani student at Kansas City University. In 1960, they moved to Fresno, where Earl got a job with Munsingwear. They moved to Woodland Hills in 1962, when Earl transferred to another Munsingwear location. He worked there for 34 years. Mary taught kindergarten at Canoga Park Elementary School for 28 years. Both retired in 1994. Both are members of the Calabasas Park Country Club. They also love to travel and have played golf in many places around the world, including Hong Kong, China and Russia. They are also active at St. James Presbyterian Church in Tarzana. Mary belongs to the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Woodland Hills Women's Club Red Hatters. They have two children: Earl Bryan Thompson of La Jolla and Floyd Fewel Thompson of Irvine. They also have four grandchildren.
