LONGEVITY MARRIED 60 YEARS: SONIA AND JOSEF CZARYSKI.

Sonia and Josef Czaryski of Los Angeles celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family on Aug. 11 at their son's home. They were married on Aug. 11, 1946.

They met in Poland after the Holocaust

Sonia was born in Benin, Poland. As a teenager, she lived through the Holocaust, hiding in basements and then in imprisoned in concentration camps, where she witnessed many atrocities.

After marriage, the couple moved to Israel. In 1974, they moved to the U.S. with their two sons.

They also love to play cards, spend time with friends and have traveled to many places. Favorite jaunts include Las Vegas and cruises.

They have two children: Shraga Zur of Givaataim, Israel, and Elie Charisky of Woodland Hills. They also have five grandchildren.

 in Jefferson City, Mo., with an extended vacation. They were married on Aug. 25, 1951, at a Presbyterian church in Warrensburg, Mo.

They met at Central Missouri State University Missouri State University is a state university located in Springfield, Missouri. It is the state's second largest university in student enrollment, second only to the University of Missouri. From 1972 to 2005, Missouri State was known as Southwest Missouri State University.  in Warrensburg.

Earl was a football player in college and a member of the M Club, an intercollegiate athletic club. He graduated with a double major in business and physical education.

Mary was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sigma Sigma Sigma (ΣΣΣ), also known as Tri Sigma or Sigma, is a national American women’s sorority with membership of more than 92,000 members (as of August 1, 2006).  sorority.  degree in education, aspiring to be a kindergarten teacher.

After marriage, they moved to Kansas City, Mo., where Earl worked for Procter & Gamble in the sales department. Mary taught kindergarten for seven years. A highlight for her was when she was chosen to be a master teacher for a Pakistani student at Kansas City University.

In 1960, they moved to Fresno, where Earl got a job with Munsingwear. They moved to Woodland Hills in 1962, when Earl transferred to another Munsingwear location. He worked there for 34 years. Mary taught kindergarten at Canoga Park Elementary School for 28 years. Both retired in 1994.

Both are members of the Calabasas Park Country Club. They also love to travel and have played golf in many places around the world, including Hong Kong, China and Russia. They are also active at St. James Presbyterian Church in Tarzana. Mary belongs to the Daughters of the American Revolution Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a Colonial patriotic society in the United States, open to women having one or more ancestors who aided the cause of the Revolution. The society was organized (1890) at Washington, D.C. , the Woodland Hills Women's Club Red Hatters.

They have two children: Earl Bryan Thompson of La Jolla and Floyd Fewel Thompson of Irvine. They also have four grandchildren.
