LONGEVITY MARRIED 60 YEARS: SHIRLEY AND GORDON TADEWALDT.

Shirley and Gordon Tadewaldt of Montrose celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family at Cafe Bizou in Pasadena and with a trip to Yreka, Calif.

Shirley and Gordon met after Gordon's return from Atlantic Convoy Duty and were engaged while he was on leave from the U.S. Navy in 1945. They were married on April 20, 1945 in Aurora, Ill.

Shirley graduated from Batavia High School in Batavia, Ill., and worked as a ``Rosie the Riveter'' during World War II. She later worked as a homemaker and has worked in her daughter Sandra's classroom as a teacher's aide at Stevenson Elementary School in Burbank for more than 30 years.

Gordon graduated from East Aurora High School and was a volunteer for the U.S. Merchant Marines. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS PGM-1 and the USS Melvin during World War II and the Korean War. Postwar, he became a licensed architect in California and worked for Verge & Clatworthy, a firm in Los Angeles. He was responsible for many hospital and school projects around the city.

They plan on taking a cruise together this summer.

They have three children: Patricia of Arleta, Sandra of Burbank and Gordon of Yreka. They also have six grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: MARY LOU AND BILL NOTTINGHAM

Mary Lou and Bill Nottingham of Arleta celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on April 9 at Salt Creek Grill in Valencia.

Mary Lou and Bill met at Central Christian Church in Glendale in August 1952. They were married at the church on April 9, 1955.

Mary Lou graduated from Hoover High School in 1953 and worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 20 years. She retired in 1985 and enjoys traveling, handicrafts and playing with her grandchildren.

Bill graduated from Cortland High School in New York in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and worked as an aerospace machinist for 41 years. He retired in 1999 and loves golf and traveling.

They have two children: Cheryl Hammer of Saugus and Lori Ebert of Agua Dulce. They have four grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: JOYCE AND GEORGE COURY

Joyce and George Coury of West Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family and friends on May 14 at Buca di Beppo restaurant.

They met after high-school graduation and married on May 14, 1955, in Detroit, after George returned home from the Korean War. They moved to California in 1960.

Joyce graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit in 1951. She worked as a homemaker and sings in the Center Stage Singers, a choir.

George graduated from Mackenzie High School in Detroit in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. He is retired from the sign business and is an avid golfer.

They have four children: Lynne Shaw of Montecito, Dawn Diamond of Encino, Lance Coury of West Hills and Devin Coury, of Silver Lake. They also have two grandchildren and one on the way.
