LONGEVITY MARRIED 60 YEARS: RACHEL AND FRED BANKS.


Rachel and Fred Banks of Burbank celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with friends and family on May 7 at Castaways Restaurant in Burbank. They were married on May 5, 1946, at Holy Family Church in Glendale.

They met at a Ralphs grocery store in 1945 when Fred worked there as a receiving clerk.

Rachel was born in 1926 in Erie, Kansas. She graduated from high school in St. Paul, Kansas St. Paul is a city in Neosho County, Kansas, United States. It had a population of 646 at the 2000 census. History

 in 1944 and recently attended her 60th class reunion there. She moved to California in 1944. After marriage, she became a housewife and raised three boys. Her favorite hobbies include golf and playing bridge.

Fred was born in 1923 in Canada. At the age of 17, he moved to the United States and was drafted into the Army to serve in World War II. He worked for Ralphs in the receiving department and retired after 44 years of service. Fred loves anything to do with trains and other modes of public transportation and loves helping his young grandson Parker with science projects.

They have three children: Greg Banks of Fresno, Fred Banks of Littlerock and Dave Banks of Priest River, Idaho Priest River is a city in Bonner County, Idaho, United States. The population was 1,754 at the 2000 census. Geography

. They also have two grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: SPARTICO AND SALLY GALIETI

Spartico and Sally Galieti of Northridge celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy followed by four days in Las Vegas. They were married on June 2, 1956.

They were both born and raised in Alliance, Ohio, and met while attending Alliance High School. However they went their separate ways for a time after graduation.

After graduation, Sally ventured into horse racing and has owned several thoroughbreds.

Spart, as he is also known, attended Bowling Green College in Ohio and worked at various jobs before being drafted into the Army to serve in the Korean War. He was discharged in 1952 and attended Mount Union College History and profile

A few years later Spart and Sally met again at a dance at a local park. They dated for a time before getting married in 1956.

After moving to California, he worked for Western Electric company and was a prime contractor for the Nike and Hercules defense missiles. He also worked for Whittaker Gyro Co., Hoffman Electronics Corp. and North American Aviation North American Aviation was a major US aircraft manufacturer. The company was responsible for a number of historic aircraft, including the T-6 Texan trainer, the P-51 Mustang fighter, the B-25 Mitchell bomber, the F-86 Sabre jet fighter, and the X-15 rocket plane, as well as Apollo  Co., the company that made the command and service modules for the Apollo Spacecraft.

He later left the industry to attend California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , and received his MBA MBA
