LONGEVITY MARRIED 60 YEARS: HAROLD AND CAROL BAHRKE.Byline: -- Simone Schramm Trimm Harold and Carol Bahrke of Van Nuys celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family at their home on June 29. They were married on June 29, 1946, in Brawley, Calif. They met in Greenville, Wis., in 1940 at Carol's brother's wedding reception and dated for six years before getting married. When Carol's family moved to California, Harold followed. Carol graduated from Neenah High School Neenah High School is a public school located in Neenah, WI and is part of the Neenah Joint School District. As of spring 2006, approximately 2160 students [1] were enrolled at this school in grades 9 through 12. in Neenah, Wis., in 1941. After marriage, she became a housewife, raising their four children. Harold graduated from OshKosh High School in OshKosh, Wis., in 1937. Following that, he attended OshKosh Business College for a time. In 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1944 to 1946. After marrying, they lived in El Centro El Centro (ĕl sĕn`trō), city (1990 pop. 31,384), seat of Imperial co., SE Calif., near the Mexican border; inc. 1908. It is a processing and shipping center for a heavily irrigated agricultural region (vegetables, grain, cotton, for two years, before moving to Van Nuys in 1948. Harold started a building contracting business and has built homes in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills. for more than 50 years. In 1957, he built the home that they still live in. Harold and Carol are active members of the Sons of Norway and the Knights of Columbus Knights of Columbus, American Roman Catholic society for men, founded (1882) at New Haven, Conn. (where its headquarters are still located), by Father Michael J. McGivney. through their church, and the American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. . They love to travel and have great memories of driving across the country to Wisconsin with their kids. They have also traveled the world on many cruises. They have four children: Richard and Roger Bahrke, both of Lake Tahoe, Mary Ellen Courtney of Lancaster, and Diane Ford of Newhall. They also have eight grandchildren GRANDCHILDREN, domestic relations. The children of one's children.
