LONGEVITY MARRIED 60 YEARS: FRAN AND KEN HENKE.

Fran and Ken Henke of West Hills celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family on Feb. 26.

They met through relatives and were married Feb. 27, 1945, at the Methodist Church of Elmore, Minn.

Fran graduated from Elmore High School in Minnesota in 1941 and attended the College of Commerce in Mason City, Iowa Mason City is a city in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, United States. The population was 29,172 at the 2000 census (2005 estimate 27,909) and has stayed close to 30,000 since 1995. It is the county seat of Cerro Gordo County. . She is a licensed amateur ham radio See ham.  operator, and has worked as a banker, homemaker and a volunteer with Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), a group therapy organization.

Ken graduated from Blue Earth High School in Minnesota in 1942 and from the University of Minnesota (body, education) University of Minnesota - The home of Gopher.

They have five children: Brad of Illinois, Kenneth of Minneapolis, James of Simi Valley, Kathleen of Minneapolis and Pamela Blue of Huntington Beach. They also have four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Marcia worked as a secretary and a homemaker. She volunteered for the Department of Mental Health for many years, and was also a volunteer for special needs children.

. He is studying law and recently took the bar exam. He served in the U.S. Navy submarine service for four years during World War II.

They have two children: Jon of Maui, Hawaii, and Cindy of Northridge. They also have four grandchildren.

Avis and Vic Cook of Woodland Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on a three-day yacht cruise to Catalina and a renewal of their wedding vows.

They met in college and eloped on Oct. 2, 1954 in San Fernando.

Avis graduated from California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , and she and her husband are the founding directors of Woodland Hills Swim School and Meadow Oaks School and Camp in Calabasas. She was a docent for the Los Angeles Zoo The Los Angeles Zoo founded in 1966, is a large zoo located in Los Angeles, California, USA.

The Zoo, located in Los Angeles' Griffith Park, is home to 1,200 animals from around the world.
 from 1985 to 1990 and is a volunteer for charities including the Children's Home Society and Childhelp USA.

Vic graduated from California State University, Los Angeles California State University, Los Angeles (also known as Cal State L.A., CSULA, or "'CSLA"') is a public university, part of the California State University system. , and worked as a teacher, coach, principal, camp director and managing director of Meadow Oaks for 37 years, coaching numerous swimmers to national records and to the Olympic Games. Vic has broken four world records in the pole vault for athletes ages 50 and older at the Masters World Games.

They have three children: Rick, of Malibu Lake, Rusty, of Bell Canyon and Nicki, of Agoura Hills. They have eight grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: DIANE AND SAM WEINER

Diane and Sam Weiner of Chatsworth celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on Dec. 4, 2004, at the Radisson Hotel in Chatsworth.

They met in Boyle Heights on a blind date. They dated for six months and were married on Dec. 4, 1954, at the Beverly Chateau in Los Angeles.

Diane graduated from Roosevelt High School Roosevelt High School is the name of various public and independent secondary schools:

  • Eleanor Roosevelt High School (Greenbelt, Maryland), Greenbelt, Maryland
 in 1954 and worked as a homemaker and a secretary.

Sam graduated from Roosevelt in 1947, and joined the U.S. Army in 1949. He served for three years, and later worked for the Gas Co. for 38 years.

They have one child: Debra of Woodland Hills.
