LONGEVITY MARRIED 60 YEARS: ZBIGNIEW AND ANNA MONTYGIERD-LOYBA.

Zbigniew and Anna Montygierd-Loyba of Los Angeles celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family on June 4 at home. They were married on June 8, 1946, in Corridonia, Italy.

They met on the beach in Porto San Giorgio, Italy, in 1945, and married the following year while they were both still in the Polish Army.

Anna was born in Krakow, Poland. During World War II she joined Armia Krajowa, which means Home Army in Polish. She worked as a Polish underground messenger and first aid nurse. In 1945, she escaped communist Poland, traveling to Italy through Czechoslovakia and Germany. There she joined the Polish Army under British command within the Allied Forces.

Zbigniew was born in Wilno, Poland, now Lithuania. He was deported to a gulag in the Soviet Union in 1940, and joined the Polish Army there in 1941. He was evacuated to Persia in 1942, through Iraq, Palestine, Egypt and then Italy, where he served until Armistice Day in 1945.

Zbigniew and Anna were discharged from the army in 1949; they then emigrated from England to Argentina. In 1961 they immigrated to the United States and have lived here ever since.

They have two children: Lucas Dobrzanski of Bakersfield and Henryk Montygierd-Loyba, who lives in Jakarta, Indonesia. They also have seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: PATRICIA AND DONALD OGDEN

Patricia and Donald Ogden of Canyon Country celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family on June 3 at Catalina Island. The two wed on June 3, 1956, in Tucson, Ariz.

Patricia and Donald met at a barbecue held by their parents, who were neighbors.

Patricia grew up in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from West Milton Union High School in West Milton, Ohio. She worked for the police department for a period of time before moving to California. After marriage, she became a stay-at-home mom and then worked as an executive secretary for the Newhall School District.

Donald grew up in Long Beach and graduated from Jordan High School there. He worked for Douglas Aircraft for nine years before joining Lockheed. He retired from Lockheed after working there for almost 30 years as an assistant division manager. Following retirement, he worked at the Verdugo Golf Course for 15 years.

The Ogdens love to travel and have visited many places, including Europe. They love to travel by train as well. They also love golf and being with family.

They have two children: Leslie Stoddard of Toluca Lake and Dana Ogden of Huntington Beach. They also have two grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: SHIRLEY AND GERALD GROSE

Shirley and Gerald Grose of West Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family on May 27 at their daughter's home. They were married on June 9, 1956, in Spokane. Wash. They met in Spokane in 1952.

Shirley graduated from North Central High School in Spokane in 1953. She attended Eastern Washington University for one year before marrying. She worked for several years as a secretary and stenographer. She also owned a mailing business for three years before selling it in 1998.

Gerald graduated from North Central High School in 1952. He received a bachelor's degree in economics from Eastern University in 1957. For several years, he was a member of the Washington Air National Guard. He also worked for Boeing in Seattle, North American Aviation in Los Angeles, and then Hughes Aircraft before retiring in 1989.

Nearly two years after their marriage, Gerald and Shirley moved to Seattle. In October of 1959 they moved to California and have lived in their current home since 1964.

They have three children: Renee Ellis of Northridge, Janelle Grose of Pasadena and Dana Steadman of West Hills. They also have eight grandchildren.
