LONGEVITY MARRIED 50 YEARS.Byline: - Nicole Sunkes Hope and Harvey Schechter of Sherman Oaks plan to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family in June, with a dinner party. They met in September 1950 when Harvey was a graduate student at UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles UCLA University Center for Learning Assistance (Illinois State University) UCLA University of Carrollton, TX and Lower Addison, TX doing research on trade union democracy. They were married March 20, 1955, in San Marino San Marino, city, United States San Marino (săn mərē`nō), residential city (1990 pop. 12,959), Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1913. Of interest is the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens. . Hope worked as an organizer and business accountant for the International Ladies Garment Workers union International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU), former U.S. labor union formed in 1900 by the amalgamation of seven local unions. At the turn of the century most of the workers in the garment industry were Jewish immigrants, whose attempts at organization were , and was appointed to the National Advisory Council of Peace Corps by President Lyndon Johnson. She is a certified shorthand reporter and operated her own deposition service for 25 years. She graduated from California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , magna cum laude, in 1995. Harvey has an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara History The predecessor to UCSB, Santa Barbara State College, focused on teacher training, industrial arts, home economics, and foreign languages. Intense lobbying by an interest group in the City of Santa Barbara led by Thomas Storke and Pearl Chase persuaded the State , and a master's degree from UCLA. He worked for the Anti- Defamation League as civil rights director, regional director and Western states director, for 41 years. He is also a trustee for UC Santa Barbara. They have no children of their own, but have ``adopted'' more than 100 children and grandchildren, whom they mentored and whom they love as their own.
