LONGEVITY MARRIED 50 YEARS: LYLE AND DOLORES BELL.

Lyle and Dolores Dolores (or Delores) was a common given name (until the 1960s in the USA); it is cognate with the English word "dolorous" (meaning sorrowful) and equivalent in meaning.  Bell of West Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a five-day trip to Carmel. They were married March 15, 1956, at Unity by the Sea Church in Santa Monica Santa Monica (săn`tə mŏn`ĭkə), city (1990 pop. 86,905), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1886. Tourism and retailing are important, and the city has motion-picture, biotechnology, and software industries. .

They met in Santa Monica at a fiesta at Santa Monica City College. Lyle played the marimba marimba: see xylophone.

Lyle grew up in Rockford, Ill., and came to California to attend Santa Monica City College. He achieved an A.A. degree in business administration in 1949. Following that, he moved back to Rockford to take mechanical engineering courses at Rockford College. He also received a B.S. degree in industrial engineering at the Industrial Engineering College of Chicago, California Division.

Dolores studied piano and has attended a variety of music schools, including the Juilliard School and the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music.

She has performed with several symphonies and choirs, including the Pierce College Symphony in 1975 as a soloist. She worked with the PTA PTA or parent-teacher association: see parent education.  as an organizer and accompanist for an elementary-school choir. She also taught beginning to advanced piano and has owned and operated two music institutions: Keyboard School of Music, and Village Music Guild as co-owner. She has performed with several musical societies, including the Mendelssohn Society of Music, which honored her with an Active Membership Award.

Lyle and Dolores love being with family, watching old movies, and attending musicals and concerts.

They have four children: Douglas Bell of Highland Ranch, Colo.; Wendy Collins of Rowlett, Texas; Heidi Grim of Reno, Nev.; and Holly Hansen of Palmdale. They also have 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

MARRIED 60 YEARS: CALVIN AND CHARLOTTE KAISER

Calvin and Charlotte Kaiser of Winnetka celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family on April 30 at their son's home in Van Nuys. They were married on April 27, 1946 in Chicago. They met at a mutual friend's house.

They both grew up in Chicago. Charlotte attended Corkery Elementary School and Calvin attended Robert Burns Elementary School. Both graduated from Farragut High School

Farragut High School is a high school located at 11237 Kingston Pike in Farragut, Tennessee, a suburb of Knoxville, Tennessee.

At age 18, Cal, as he is known, was drafted into the army with the 329th Infantry, 83rd Division. He was awarded a purple heart, bronze star and silver star. He and Charlotte married upon his return.

In Chicago, Cal worked for Western Electric and eventually became a carpenter. After moving to California, he worked for Los Angeles Valley College LAVC redirects here. For the software library, see libavcodec.
The university is adjacent to Grant High School. Often called "Valley College" or simply "Valley" by those who frequent the campus, it opened its doors to the public on September 12, 1949, at which time the campus was

Charlotte is a collector of spoons, dolls, plates and tea settings. They both love to travel and have driven through the United States several times with the car Cal won on ``The Price Is Right.''

They have six children: Cheryl Devereaux of Long Beach, Caren Jauss of Simi Valley, Carl Kaiser of Panorama City, Chris Kaiser of Palmdale, Craig Kaiser of Van Nuys and Cindy Knafl of Oak Lawn, Ill. They also have 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
