LONGEVITY MARRIED 50 YEARS: CHUCK AND TERRY BARRAGAN.


Chuck and Terry Barragan of Granada Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family on Aug. 26, with a Mass at St. Ferdinand's Church and a reception at the Odyssey in Granada Hills. They met in high school and dated for a year before becoming engaged. A year later, they were married, and lived in Pacoima for 10 years. They then moved to Granada Hills and have lived there since 1968.

 and worked for the Department of Water and Power for 32 years. He has since retired and served as the St. Ferdinand's Senior Club treasurer for five years.

Terry graduated from San Fernando High School in 1956, and worked for 10 years in customer service for Sears. She retired after 35 years as a Kaiser Permanente Kaiser Permanente is an integrated managed care organization, based in Oakland, California, founded in 1945 by industrialist Henry J. Kaiser and physician Sidney R. Garfield.  customer service representative.

Both Chuck and Terry have dedicated 25 years to fundraising for MEND (Meet Each Need With Dignity) in Pacoima.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: MAURICE AND PHYLLIS BASH

Maurice and Phyllis Bash of West Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family on Sept. 30 at Lindero Country Club in Agoura Hills.

They were married on Jan. 22, 1956, at Agudas Achim Synagogue in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. . They met through the Jewish service organization B'nai B'rith in 1955. They dated for about nine months before getting married.

Phyllis graduated from Port Chester High School in Port Chester, N.Y. She worked for seven years in the office administration department for Sears before becoming a stay-at-home mom.

Maurice's favorite hobby is photography, and both love to visit Las Vegas, among other places.

They have two children: Lisa Bash and Sol Bash, both of West Hills. They also have two grandchildren.

MARRIED 60 YEARS: JOHN AND DOROTHY BESCH

John and Dorothy Besch of Sun Valley celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family on Aug. 13 at their son's home in Simi Valley. They were married on Aug. 25, 1946, in Aurora, Ill.

They met in high school and moved to California in 1948. Dorothy was a sales associate at the Broadway department store in Panorama City for 25 years and enjoys playing bridge and traveling. John spent some years in the Army during World War II and currently volunteers at Catholic Charities and Valley Presbyterian Hospital. Together they enjoy rollerskating and have plans to take an eight-day cruise to the Mexican Riviera.

They have six children: Linda Scott of Spring Valley, Stephen Besch of Santa Clarita, Joanne Podenski of Seattle, Barbara Werth of Canyon Country, Mary Chan of Granada Hills and Robert Besch of Simi Valley. They also have eight granddaughters and four grandsons.

MARRIED 60 YEARS: SID AND MILLIE MILLIE Maximum Interchange of the Latest Logistic Information is Essential  EPSTEIN

Sid and Millie Epstein of Encino celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with friends and family on Sept. 10 at the Golden Hunan Restaurant in Northridge. They were married on Sept. 8, 1946.

They met in Los Angeles through Millie's best friend, Sid's cousin. They were married six months later.

Sid was born and raised in Erie, Penn. He graduated from Academy High School there in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army from 1942-46. He currently works for Weight Watchers at the reception desk and has been there for 23 years.

Millie was born and raised in Los Angeles. She attended Harrison Street Elementary School, Belvedere Jr. High School and graduated from Roosevelt High School in L.A. She also works for Weight Watchers as a leader and has been there for 25 years.

They love to do many things together, such as travel, dine out and spend time with family.

They have two children: Adrienne Everakes of Northridge and James Epstein of West Hills. They also have five grandchildren.

MARRIED 60 YEARS: BILL AND BEVERLY TRUE

Bill and Beverly True of Palmdale celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner on Aug. 24. They were married on Aug. 24, 1946, at Christ the King Church in Hollywood.

They lived in the Valley before moving to Palmdale. They currently live on a 2 1/2-acre ranch with donkeys, pygmy goats and other animals, and they love to travel in their RV.
