LONGEVITY MARRIED 50 YEARS: KEN AND TOYOKO ZINK.
Ken and Toyoko Zink of Littlerock celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family and friends on Aug. 7 at the Juniper Bowl in Juniper Hills.
They met in 1949 in Japan at Haneda Air Base, where Toyoko worked and Ken was stationed in the U.S. Air Force. After a lengthy courtship, mostly by mail, they were married Aug. 30, 1954, at the American Council in Fukuoka, Japan.
Toyoko worked as a homemaker.
Ken retired from the U.S. Air Force after 27 years and worked as a middle school teacher for 13 years. They owned and operated an orchard for many years.
Ken and Toyoko are active in the Littlerock Presbyterian Church and have traveled throughout the United States, China, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Israel, Jordan and British Columbia.
They have three children: Lori, deceased, Rick of Littlerock and Wayne, who lives in Virginia. They also have six grandchildren.
