LONGEVITY MARRIED 50 YEARS: JANICE AND LOEB ARONIN.

Loeb and Janice Aronin of Woodland Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on July 3 at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in San Diego. They also went on a three-week trip to London.

They met as teenagers and were married in North Hollywood on July 11, 1954.

Janice moved to California from Brooklyn. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara History
The predecessor to UCSB, Santa Barbara State College, focused on teacher training, industrial arts, home economics, and foreign languages. Intense lobbying by an interest group in the City of Santa Barbara led by Thomas Storke and Pearl Chase persuaded the State
, in 2001. She's a retired special education teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District The Los Angeles Unified School District (the "LAUSD") is the largest (in terms of number of students) public school system in California and the second-largest in the United States. Only the New York City Department of Education has a larger student population.  and works as a volunteer at West Hills Hospital.

Loeb earned his Ed.D. in 1991 from the University of La Verne The University of La Verne is a private university in La Verne, California (about 35 miles east of Los Angeles) with a main campus, seven satellite campuses throughout central and southern California, a law school, and two military regional campuses at Point Mugu Naval Air Station . He is a retired director of psychological services with the LAUSD LAUSD Los Angeles Unified School District (Los Angeles, CA)  and is a board member of the California Association of School Psychologists. He was a saxophone player in dance bands and in the UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles
UCLA University Center for Learning Assistance (Illinois State University)
UCLA University of Carrollton, TX and Lower Addison, TX
 and University of Wisconsin marching bands.

They have four children: Ann of Valencia, Howard of Newhall, Steve of Prospect, Conn., and Richard of Lantana, Texas. They also have eight grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: CELIA CELIA Competitive Enzyme-Linked Immunoassay  AND FRANK DE LA O

Celia and Frank De La O of Arleta celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family on June 12.

They met in July 1949, shortly after Frank graduated from high school. Celia's best friend was Frank's cousin, but Celia was only 15 years old at the time, so they didn't begin dating until several years later. They were married on May 29, 1954, in Albuquerque, N.M. They moved to Burbank in 1955.

Celia graduated from high school in 1953. She worked for an advertising agency for two years, and after they moved to California she worked for Central Coast Airlines and Helicopters International, on and off, for 15 years. After her children were in school, she worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District for a few months, then began working for the U.S. Postal Service The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) processes and delivers mail to individuals and businesses within the United States. The service seeks to improve its performance through the development of efficient mail-handling systems and operates its own planning and engineering programs.  for 12 years.

She quit the USPS (1) (Uninterruptible Switching Power Supply) A power supply for a computer that contains its own battery and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) circuitry. See power supply and UPS.  and returned to the LAUSD to work as a secretary, retiring in 1992. Since her retirement, she has been attending adult school, making ceramic dolls, working with ceramics and learning to do glass painting. While her children were growing up, she was a den mother for her sons' Boy Scout troops and was also a team mother for their Little League teams. She was also active in her children's elementary and middle school PTAs and still works occasionally as a secretary at John H. Francis Polytechnic High School John H. Francis Polytechnic High School is a secondary school located in Los Angeles, California, United States.

Polytechnic, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Despite its name, Polytechnic is a comprehensive high school.

Frank graduated from Bernalillo High School in Bernalillo, N.M., in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1952 to 1953, and then returned to Albuquerque. He worked in construction, but when snow caused a work slowdown, they moved to Burbank, where he worked for the USPS for 35 years, retiring in 1989. He enjoys keeping his yard neat and trim, and helping neighbors when they need it.

They have six children: Frank Jr. of Castaic; Lawrence, deceased; David of Sylmar; Robert of Sherman Oaks; Viola of Broomfield, Colo.; and Elaine of Mission Hills. They have 14 grandchildren.
