As far as ``Zippy'' goes, he's definitely an acquired taste, one NOT appreciated by 415 voters. However, 151 ``Zippy'' fans - that's about 20 percent - made their case (there was a lot of begging and pleading, if you want to know the truth) for the clown-suited pinhead. Indifference would've been Zippy, Zerbina, Griffy and Mr. Toad's undoing, but their fans' fervor spoke volumes and saved the strip that skewers pop culture - or does it embrace it? Talk amongst yourselves. In other comics news, a new strip, ``Get Fuzzy Get Fuzzy is an American daily comic strip written and drawn by Darby Conley. The strip features the adventures of Boston advertising executive Rob Wilco and his two anthropomorphic pets: dog Satchel Pooch and cat Bucky Katt. ,'' by Darby Conley Darby Conley is an American cartoonist best known for the popular comic strip Get Fuzzy. Conley was born in Concord, Massachusetts in 1970, and grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. While in high school in 1986, he won a student cartooning competition. , debuts today in the Daily News and other newspapers across the country. ``Get Fuzzy'' follows the trials and tribulations of single, mild-mannered ad executive Rob Wilco, his temperamental cat Bucky - who clearly wears the pants in this household - and gentle, sensitive pooch Satchel, who frequently ends up on the receiving end of Bucky's mischief. ``Get Fuzzy'' will replace ``Animal Crackers'' in L.A. Life. Coming Sept. 13: Peter Waldner's quirky ``Flight Deck,'' the top vote-getter in a previous Daily News comics poll, moves into L.A. Life. |
