LOCOMOTIVE ROLLED OUT FOR CELEBRATION.

Round-trip steam train rides powered by antique locomotive No. 51 will be given today by the Fillmore & Western Railway.

Four daytime trips and an evening dinner are planned as part of Fillmore's Restoration Celebration commemorating the city's recovery from the 1994 Northridge Earthquake The Northridge earthquake occurred on January 17, 1994 at 4:31 AM Pacific Standard Time in the city of Los Angeles, California. The earthquake had a "strong" moment magnitude of 6. .

No. 51 was built in 1906 and has been featured in Hollywood movies including ``Cat Ballou,'' ``Chaplin,'' ``Of Mice and Men'' and ``Tall Tale.''

Dave Wilkinson, the railway's new general manager, said people frequently ask about the engine since it stopped running for the public last year.

``People really enjoy riding behind it,'' he said. ``The city's celebration seemed like a good opportunity to roll it out and do something special that'll please everybody.''

Tickets cost $10 for senior citizens and $12 for other adults. Children 4 and younger will ride free, while the price will be $7 for children 5 through 12.

Tickets should be purchased at least 30 minutes before each run at the Red Caboose Ticket Office in Central Park, one block north of State Highway 126 on Central Avenue in Fillmore.

Reservations are required for the dinner train, which will depart Fillmore at 6 p.m. Passengers will be offered beverages from a no-host bar as the train huffs its way to the old Glen Tavern tavern: see inn.  Inn in Santa Paula Santa Paula (săn`tə pôl`ə), city (1990 pop. 25,062), Ventura co., S Calif., on the Santa Clara River in a fertile valley that yields citrus fruits, avocados, vegetables, flowers, nursery products, and walnuts; laid out 1875, inc.  for a spaghetti spaghetti: see pasta.  dinner.

Musicians will perform aboard the train and at the inn. After dinner, passengers will be taken back to Fillmore with arrival scheduled at 9:30 p.m.

The $44.50 fare includes dinner. MasterCard and Visa are accepted. Tickets for the evening train ride will not be available the day of the event.
