LOCAL WOMEN'S ROUNDUP; BRUINS GET BIG ROAD WIN.

Erica Gomez and Maylana Martin each scored 19 points Thursday night to lead No. 12 UCLA to a 79-68 victory over No. 16 Arizona in Tucson.

Gomez, who sealed the win with late free throws, hit a 3-pointer with 3:15 remaining to give the Bruins a 67-59 lead and put an end to the Wildcats' last serious run.

UCLA (10-4, 4-0 Pac-10) got 14 points from Janae Hubbard and Nicole Kaczmarski added 13.

Tatum Brown and Felecity Willis each scored 16 points for Arizona (14-3, 3-2).

Martin, the Bruins' leading scorer and rebounder, was saddled with four fouls for most of the second half.

UCLA trailed 43-42, with nine minutes left, when Hubbard began a 9-0 run with a put-back basket.

--Arizona St. 78, USC 74: The Trojans' Erica Mashia hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. But Arizona State made its free throws in overtime to pull out the win.

Mashia led USC with 17 points. Five players scored in double figures for the Sun Devils, led by Kitch Kitchen and Theresa Janzten, who had 17 apiece. Sarizona St. was 24 of 39 from the free-throw line, and USC was 13 of 19.
