Running:The second annual Santa Clarita Marathon is scheduled for Nov. 10. Participating groups can partner with the marathon organization to raise funds and increase awareness of their own charities in a variety of ways. Participating groups also will be encouraged to turn out on race day to provide entertainment and support at mile-marker locations along the race course. Groups may raise funds through the sale of marathon-imprinted merchandise or by enlisting runners to earn pledges while competing in the full marathon or the new 10-mile race. Other fund-raising methods can be developed by participating groups with the approval of the marathon charities coordinator, Christine Silvestri. The marathon field will be limited to 1,500 runners.
