LOCAL NOTES : MONTCLAIR PREP PLANS TWO GAMES IN THREE DAYS.

Montclair Prep has agreed to play two football games in the same week after struggling to schedule enough games to qualify for playoff competition.

The Mounties (2-1) will play at Malibu, a first-year program, next Wednesday, then face L.A. Jordan at Valley College on Friday.

Luge luge (lzh), a type of small sled on which one or two persons, lying face up, slide feet first down snowy hillsides or down steeply banked, curving, iced chutes similar to those used in  classes: Street Luge Street luge is an extreme gravity-powered activity that involves riding a streetluge board (sometimes referred to as a sled) down a paved road or course. Street luge is also known as land luge or road luge. Like skateboarding, street luge is often done for sport and for recreation.  Education Development (SLED) in Northridge will hold monthly classes for anyone interested in learning both the proper techniques of street luging Noun 1. luging - riding a light one-man toboggan
tobogganing - riding on a long light sled with low handrails
 and the correct equipment to buy.

Classes will be held at various sites throughout the area. Although the organization normally requires its members to be at least 18 years of age, youth who have their parents' consent will be allowed to attend. Softball tryouts: The California Waves 14-and-under fastpitch softball Fastpitch softball is a sport played commonly by girls, though male and co-ed fastpitch leagues also exist. The United States fastpitch softball team has won back-to-back-to-back gold medals at the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics.  traveling team is holding tryouts Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Information: (805) 968-5497.

The Outlaws 16-and-under traveling softball team will hold tryouts Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Pierce College In 2006 the Library won a national Excellence award. Academics
Pierce College offers associate's degrees, mainly in the arts and sciences. There are also certificate programs in early childhood education, social services, dental hygienist, and others.
. The 18-and-under team will hold tryouts from 9 a.m. to noon at Pierce. Information: (818) 368-8777.

Swim meet: More than 500 youth swimmers from Catholic parishes ages 4 to 14 will compete on Nov. 3 in the St. John Eudes swim meet at Rancho Simi Valley pool.
