LOCAL NOTES : BASEBALL:.


The 1996 Lu Dawgs baseball camps are taking place at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown. . Day sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday throughout the summer. An overnight session is scheduled July 28 through Aug. 2 at CLU (language) CLU - (CLUster) An object-oriented programming language developed at MIT by Liskov et al in 1974-1975.

CLU is an object-oriented language of the Pascal family designed to support data abstraction, similar to Alphard.

Softball: Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  Girls Softball will host its fourth Fast Pitch All-Star Softball Tournament on Friday through Sunday.

Nearly 60 teams have expressed interest in participating in this year's summer classic. The tournament's theme, Olympic Dreams, is a tribute to the 1996 USA Women's Olympic team and to all of the women who have dedicated their lives to the sport of women's softball. For the first time in Olympic history, softball will be a medal sport.

The local tournament will be played at Arroyo Fields, Susana Park, Rancho Simi Rancho San José de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi is one of the land grants in California by the Spanish government. The name derives from Shimiji, the name of the Chumash village here before the Spanish.  and Wood Ranch. Nearly 650 softball players in the 8-and-under through 14-and-under divisions will play in the three-day competition. Teams finishing first, second or third in each division will receive trophies.

T-shirts and shorts will be on sale and several equipment manufacturers will display their products. All proceeds will go to support future Simi Valley Girls Softball All-Star and recreation programs. There will be sports camp giveaways and other prizes throughout the three-day event three-day event

a competition in the pleasure horse sport comprising usually one day each for dressage, cross country and show jumping.
