Soccer: The Palmdale Heat placed second at the Los Gauchos tournament May 17-19. The Heat played four matches during the three-day tournament for boys younger than 12. The team is open to players born from 1984 through 1986. A scramble tournament will give individual players the chance to participate in a tournament apart from their usual teams. Players will be assigned to different teams as the tournament progresses. Every player will receive an award, ranging from a soccer ball to athletic shoes. In addition, some players will be invited to participate in a tournament in Las Vegas in August. Basketball camp: College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state.
